The short version. BrnzyBot stores only what it needs to do its job: your server's settings, the WoW characters you register, which commands get run, and any feedback you send. It reads public Warcraft Logs data on demand and keeps none of it. It never sees your payment card (Stripe handles that). You can delete your data at any time with a slash command. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.
This policy explains what data BrnzyBot ("the bot", "we") collects when you add it to a Discord server, why we collect it, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how to have it deleted. BrnzyBot is operated by Joseph Schafer, a sole proprietor based in Scituate, Massachusetts, USA.
What we collect
When BrnzyBot is in your server, it stores the following in a private database:
- Server and channel identifiers: your Discord server (guild) ID and channel IDs, used to keep settings and results in the right place.
- Server settings: how you've configured the bot (verbosity, where results are posted, your realm and region).
- Registered characters: the WoW character names, specs, and realms you add with
/addchar, plus the Discord user ID of whoever added them. - Usage records: which command was run, by which Discord user ID, and when. This powers the free-plan daily limit and helps us understand what's used.
- Custom stat weights: if a Patron sets custom gear weights, the weights and the user ID they belong to.
- Feedback: if you use
/feedback, the message text you send, your Discord username and ID, and the category. - Game-feature records: if your server uses the optional duel/gold mini-game, the Discord user IDs involved and the in-bot (pretend) gold ledger. This is play money, not real currency.
- Subscription status: for Patron servers, the plan status and the Stripe customer/subscription IDs that link your server to its subscription.
What we do NOT collect: BrnzyBot does not read or store the content of your channels' messages beyond the command or @mention that invokes it. It does not store Warcraft Logs data (it fetches what it needs to answer a command, then discards it). It never receives or stores your payment card details. It does not store message history, voice, presence, or your member list.
How we use it
We use this data only to provide BrnzyBot's stated features: optimizing gear, analyzing logs, enforcing the free-plan limit, applying your settings, managing Patron subscriptions, and reviewing feedback to improve the bot. We do not use it to profile you, and we do not use it for any purpose unrelated to running the bot.
In line with Discord's Developer Policy, message content obtained through Discord is never used to train machine learning or AI models. The optional AI explanation layer (when enabled) only narrates results at the moment you ask; it does not retain your data for training.
Who it's shared with
BrnzyBot is a small, independent project. Your data is not sold, rented, or shared with advertisers. It is processed by a short list of service providers, each only as needed to run the bot:
- Discord: the platform the bot runs on. Data flows through Discord's APIs by necessity.
- Stripe: handles all Patron payments. Stripe receives the payment details directly from the buyer; we only receive a confirmation that a payment succeeded, tied to your server ID. We never see your card.
- Warcraft Logs: queried on demand for the public log data the analysis features rely on.
- Google Cloud: hosts the server BrnzyBot runs on.
We may disclose data if required by law, or to investigate fraud or abuse of the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while BrnzyBot is in your server and you're using it. If you remove BrnzyBot from a server, your data is not automatically deleted right away, so that an accidental kick or re-invite doesn't wipe your setup. You can delete it at any time using the commands below, and you can email us to have a removed server's data erased.
Your choices and how to delete your data
You're in control of your data:
/deletemydata: erases your personal data in a server: characters you added, your usage history, your custom weights, any feedback you sent, and your game-feature records./deletedata: a server admin (Manage Server) can wipe all of that server's data.
Both are immediate hard deletes (the anonymized billing record noted above is the only thing retained, and it contains no personal data). If you can't run the commands, or you want a removed server's data erased, email [email protected] and we'll take care of it. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA (access, correction, deletion); these commands and that email address are how you exercise them.
Children
BrnzyBot is not directed at anyone under 13, or under the minimum age in their country. It follows Discord's own minimum-age requirements.
Changes
We may update this policy as the bot evolves. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date above, and significant changes will be noted on the BrnzyBot page. Continuing to use BrnzyBot after a change means you accept the updated policy.
